Scholarship Available from the National Society Descendants of American Farmers – due 1/1/2023

The American Farmer – 1776-1914 – has played a huge role in the success of America. NSDOAF honors each ancestor for their unlimited contributions in making our country the breadbasket of the world. The National Society Descendants of American Farmers Agricultural Scholarship is available to college students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate level agriculture-related degree. Scholarship awards may be as high as $2,000.00 and may require an interview. Ohio Soybean Council Scholarships – due 1/13/2023

Undergraduate scholarships: 

  • Seven undergraduate scholarships of up to $3,000 each
  • One $3,000 Robinson W. Joslin Scholarship, to be awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding leadership potential.
  • One $5,000 Bhima Vijayendran Scholarship, named to honor Dr. Vijayendran’s contributions to the soybean industry through his scientific research and commercialization activities at Battelle. This scholarship was founded to support those pursuing a degree related to science, technology or soybean research.
  • NEW THIS YEAR! Two $10,000 Richard Cocks Scholarships, to be distributed across three years ($3,333/year), for students who are current freshman and entering their sophomore year of college in Fall 2023. This scholarship was founded to recognize individuals from rural areas pursuing degrees in the agriculture field. This is a renewable scholarship, recipients of this scholarship are not eligible for other OSCF scholarships during its funding.

Graduate scholarships: 

  • Three scholarships of up to $5,000 each

Cloverbud Graduation Video 2022

Cloverbud Graduation is held as part of Cloverbud Day at the Fair. We use that time to recognize Cloverbud members who are ‘graduating’ from the Cloverbud program and will be traditional 4-H members in 2023. As a reminder, all of these activities are optional but members who participated received a gift and are included in the video.  Thank you to the Cloverbud members who participated!

Support the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board – Kroger Rewards

Help the Fairfield County Junior Fair Board raise money while shopping at no additional cost to you!

2. Sign in with your current Kroger account or create a new one. Note: You must have a registered Kroger Rewards card in order to participate in the Community Rewards program
3. Click the Community Rewards tab and search for “Fairfield Co 4H Advisory Committee”, then click Enroll

5. The 4-H Advisory Committee will allocate these funds to the JFB upon receipt

4-H Advisors – Join the 4-H Advisory Committee

Applications for the 4-H Advisory Committee are available NOW  – This group of 4-H Advisors work to advise OSU Extension Staff regarding direction for the county 4-H program. They also provide organization of countywide 4-H events such as 4-H Day, Officer Trainings, Countywide Fundraisers and more. 4-H Advisors must submit an application to be reviewed by the Nomination Committee. New members are slated and elected by their peers to serve a 3-year term. All current Advisors, regardless of experience, are eligible to apply provided they are not already on the committee or completing a current term. New terms begin in January, and members will be notified via email if they are selected.

Outstanding 4-H Alumni Award – Nominations Open!

The Fairfield County Junior Leaders are honored to recognize two former 4-H’ers who have been selected as outstanding 4-H Alumni. This award annually recognizes one male and one female former 4-H member (any county or state) for their outstanding contribution(s) to the 4-H program as adult volunteers. In addition to their own individual plaques, the outstanding 4-H Alumni will also have their names added to our 4-H Alumni Award Plaque which is on display in the lobby of the Fairfield County Extension Office.

Please submit this form: 2023 Outstanding Alumni Nomination Form by Dec. 15th to nominate a former 4-H member for this award along with a short reason why he or she should be recognized.

Anyone is welcome to nominate Outstanding 4-H Alumni! Please nominate one man and one woman who are 4-H Alumni.  They can be from any state or county 4-H program. This award is not limited to just current advisors! This award annually recognizes one male and one female former 4-H member (any county or state) for their outstanding contribution(s) to the 4-H program as adult volunteers. Please submit a nomination form for a former 4-H member for this award and include a short description on why they should be recognized.

The Fairfield County 4-H Junior Leaders would like to invite you to attend the Advisor Recognition Event on Saturday, December 3, 2022, from 8:00 – 10:00 a.m., as a “Thank You” for your service as a 4-H volunteer and to celebrate the 2022 4-H club year. This will be an open house event, so please stop by to pick up your complimentary breakfast sandwich. Door prizes and  Milestone gifts (1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 years) will be distributed, and End of the Year Packets will be available.

New 4-H Volunteers Needed!

Join Fairfield County 4-H as a new 4-H Volunteer!

Applications, background check AND References are due to the OSU Extension Office by February 1st. Application are available here. New Volunteer Training will take place online through an online course system and must be completed by April 15th. Advisors are needed to support members across the entire county. There are a few clubs that need additional help so potential volunteers can ‘learn the ropes’ and not have the responsibility to take on the entire club or a new club. Fairfield Foundation Scholarships open December 1st

The scholarship application for the 2023-2024 school year will open on December 1, 2022 to anyone seeking financial support to further their education. Opportunities are available for everyone from graduating high school seniors to graduate students, as well as those attending a vocational or technical school! First-time applicants are welcomed at any point in their post-secondary journey and all applicants must apply each year.

Thinking about dental school or know someone who is? Check out these opportunities:

  • The Dr. Phil Floyd Dentistry Scholarship is for Fairfield County graduates going into the field of dentistry, including dental hygiene.
  • The Hocking Valley Dental Society (HVDS) Scholarship is to provide scholarships for students in Dental Hygiene or Expanded Function Dental Assisting. Students must be a graduate of a high school within the counties served by the HVDS (Fairfield, Perry, Hocking and Athens), a resident of one of these counties, or an employee of a dentist in the HVDS.
  • The Glenn R. Burns Dental Education Scholarship is for residents of Fairfield County who are seeking a degree in Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, or as an Expanded Function Dental Auxiliary.
