Junior Fair Dog Superintendent Needed – Apply by April 1st.

POSITION OPEN AND TO BE FILLED: FAIRFIELD COUNTY JUNIOR FAIR DOG SHOW SUPERINTENDENT

THIS IS A VOLUNTEER POSITION

If you are interested in an opportunity to develop leadership and organizational skills and be an active participant in planning the Fairfield County Junior Fair, we would encourage you to apply for the position of Junior Fair Dog Show Superintendent. We are looking for individual interested in working with the Senior & Junior Fair Board and staff to provide the following services:

  • Operate the Junior Fair Dog Show during the Fairfield County Fair and month of August.
  • In December, review the rules for the Junior Fair Dog Show and assist in up-dating rules to meet current industry standards.
  • Work with schedule and operation of the Dog Show and educational programs associated.
  • Provide input to the Skillathon event as needed.
  • Develop a communication instrument with exhibitors through email through out the year on up-coming events related to the Dog show. Database will be provided
  • Work with a committee representative of the dog industry including trainers, breeders and veterinarians in our county and coordinate their volunteer help to operate the show/ and judging
  • Plan and conduct with your committee the dog show at the fair and in August.
  • Coordinate dog showmanship and show.
  • Complete all required documents regarding dog show results and champions. As well as certify required documents for the show Project identification and vaccination certificates from exhibitors signed by a licensed veterinarian. .
  • Work with sponsors and their commitment to award sponsorship.
  • Seek with assistance new award sponsors for new award areas.
  • Work closely with Junior Fair Directors, Fair Manager, and 4-H & FFA leadership
  • Follow up in early September non-sponsored awards and assist in finding sponsors with assistance.
  • Skills required are excellent communications skills with quick follow up on calls or problems and ability to assist volunteers and exhibitors. Experience in working with youth and dogs is preferred for this position.

Computer skills using spread sheets and word processing skills.

An outgoing personality that will be the spokes person for the Junior Fair Dog Program. They work in a cooperative effort with the Senior Fair Board, Junior Superintendents, Extension & FFA Office staff and advisors.
