Fairfield County Beekeepers Association Youth Beekeeping Scholarship Applications are due January 15th

Just a reminder that the Fairfield County Beekeepers Association Youth Beekeeping Scholarship Applications are due January 15th. Information and applications are found at fairfieldcountybeekeepers.org.

The FCBA Bee School Scholarship Program purpose is to:

  • Promote understanding of the value of honeybees to our environment and the food chai
  • Educate recipients in the biology and behavior of honey bees.
  • Train recipients in the best practices of beekeeping with hands-on experiences and mentoring.
  • Provide an opportunity for recipients to experience enjoyment and purpose through beekeeping.
  • Help recipients learn a possible life-long vocation and develop the potential to pursue beekeeping as a sideline or full-time vocation.

The Award

  • A Beginning Beekeeper Class and textbook.
  • Monthly Virtual Mentoring classes on 1st of the month, Feb. – Nov.
  • An “Earn-To-Own” Complete Beekeeping Gear of: 2 hives and bees, jacket with veil, and tools. Ownership of the Complete Beekeeping Gear, a value of $1350, will be awarded to the participant, free, at the end of the training period, in January 2023, if all performance and attendance goals have been met.
  • An experienced beekeeping mentor
  • Hands-on training in the FCBA Bee Yard
  • A one-year membership in the Fairfield County Beekeeping Association, , & monthly educational speakers at FCBA club meetings (3rd Tuesday of each month, 6:30 – 8:30, St Marks Church and virtual)
  • A one-year membership in the Ohio State Beekeepers Association
