Share Ohio Military Kids (OMK) Programs in Your County!

With the end of a year comes time for reflection of gratitude and growth. The Ohio Military Kids (OMK) program has experienced both. Our gratitude extends to those who contribute time and talents to support the growing number of military-affiliated youth served by OMK.

OMK has a full schedule planned for the 2020 event season. Ohio Military Kids is a partnership with Ohio State University Extension 4-H Youth Development and Family Readiness with Ohio National Guard. With this amazing partnership, Ohio Military Kids puts on several events throughout the state of Ohio. These events range from daylong educational programs, to overnights, to weekend camps, and even week-long residential camps. These events are open to youth of military families, and they do not have to be a member of 4-H to participate. 4-H members and adults have the opportunity to volunteer for OMK events, including as camp counselors in the summer! Fairfield County has had a handful of members benefit from OMK camps by being campers and/or serving as counselors!

The mission of Ohio Military Kids is to support the youth of military families throughout the deployment cycle. Ohio 4-H is an essential supporter of the Ohio Military Kids Program and its mission. Ohio 4-H works hand-in-hand with Ohio National Guard to deliver fun and supportive programs to military families. With military youth in every county in Ohio, the partnership of 4-H to promote OMK opportunities to your military friends and neighbors in all 88 counties is appreciated!

Visit go.osu.edu/OMK for more information as you express your gratitude for those who serve our country and help us continue to grow the reach of Ohio Military Kids by sharing this website with a military family! For more information, contact:

Fairfield County Foundation Scholarship NOW OPEN – due 2/14/2020

The Fairfield County Foundation scholarship application for the 2020-2021 school year is now open! The application opened on December 1st again this year to allow students time during winter break to start their applications. Current college students as well as high school seniors, graduate students and those applying to trade/technical schools are encouraged to apply. Our simple, general application will automatically narrow down the scholarships that each student is eligible for as well as suggest those that may require more information.

We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions that we recommend students review prior to submitting their application. We encourage students and parents to follow us on Facebook throughout the application process for important updates and reminders. Don’t miss your opportunity to be awarded one of over 80 scholarships given annually!

We will be doing a Preliminary Review this year and we highly recommend that everyone takes advantage of this! If your application is fully submitted by Friday, February 14, 2020 the staff will review your application for completeness and email you with any issues by February 28, 2020 so that you can correct any problems before the final deadline on Friday, March 13, 2020. This does not increase your chances of receiving a scholarship but provides an opportunity for mistakes to be corrected before the deadline and decreases the possibility of your application being ineligible.
