Ohio 4-H Cloverbot Challenge for Cloverbuds is June 9th!

Source: 4-H Cloverbud Connections

The Ohio 4-H Cloverbot Challenge gives 4-H Cloverbuds the opportunity to work cooperatively in teams to problem- solve using STEM (science, engineering, technology and math) skills. A new theme is selected each year and teams research a topic, build a working model of their solution to the Challenge issue, and create a poster to illustrate their findings. Cloverbuds, team advisors and families come to the Nationwide Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center in the spring, for the Challenge event.  Teams present their models and findings to a team of reviewers, learn about other Cloverbuds’ projects, participate in age-appropriate STEM activities, and are recognized at a closing celebration.

This year’s theme is the Cloverbot Astro Challenge and is scheduled for June 9, at the Nationwide & Ohio Farm Bureau 4-H Center in Columbus.

Get Ready! Spring Paper Clover Promotion is April 11-22, 2018 with Tractor Supply Co.

We are excited to share that once again this year, 4-H and Tractor Supply Company are partnering to provide community members a chance to support 4-H through the paper clover campaign! Fairfield County is very fortunate to have three stores in the county! Please help support local 4-H programming by purchasing a paper clover when you stop at TSC in April. More information to be coming soon…. but new for 2018: Online shoppers can make paper clover donations online! This won’t be designated to Fairfield County stores, unfortunately, but it does allow shoppers to support their local 4-H program based on their shipping zip code!

If any clubs would like to partner with one of the TSC stores in Fairfield County this spring during the Paper Clover Campaign, please let me know when and what you plan to do as well as at which store. We can’t wait to hear about these efforts and partnerships!

ExploreAg Program – Explore Ag Careers with Ohio Farm Bureau and Ohio State!

The ExploreAg program is a weeklong experience for incoming high school freshman and sophomores in June of 2018, where scholars are introduced to various aspects of agriculture both in the classroom and through opportunities for hands-on learning both on and off campus at The Ohio State University. The Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation believes an increased awareness of careers in agriculture will have a direct impact on the strength of the farm and food community, the security of food for the future and the well being of Ohio. Ideal candidates have an interest in food, science, environmental and technology but may not have an awareness of the agricultural connection to those areas.

Camp Dates:

June 10-15, 2018 – The Ohio State University, Columbus

June 17-22, 2018 – OSU-ATI, Wooster

Cost: Funded fully through the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation, campers selected will be asked to provide a deposit of $50 that will be refunded the week of camp.

ApplyClick here to apply. All applications are due April 6, 2018 and campers will be notified of selection in early May.
