Fairfield County Junior Leader Announcements

from Emma Albert, chair of the JL newsletter and website committee

Important Announcement

The Senior Fair Board has announced that at the 2016 fair, those showing animals cannot have anyone besides Fairfield County 4-H members and the people in their direct family help groom their animals. Animals being shown at the fair can be groomed outside of the fairgrounds by anyone, but once they are in the fairground, only Fairfield County 4-H members and those in their direct family can help groom the animal or give advice on how to do so.

Other Announcements

National 4-H weeks is October 2nd through October 8th. To celebrate this, the Fairfield County Junior Leadership Club will be starting the “4-H Grown Challenge” on Instagram. This works much like the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. A person that has been touched by 4-H in their lives will write about an experience they had in 4-H. That person will then tag five others in 4-H, using #4Hgrownfairfieldco, and those people will write about their personal experiences. Emily Blackwell will be starting this challenge. Good luck!

The Fairfield County Junior Leadership Club will be meeting on Wednesday, September 21st at 6:00 p.m. at Schaffner’s Drive-In in Baltimore.  Anyone over 13 is welcome to come! There will be a canned food drive that night, so make sure to bring canned items if you are planning to come!

The Junior Leaders are also hosting a fundraiser at Shaffner’s that day (10:30 am to 10:00 pm) with 15% of the proceeds going to the JL club with the attached flyer. Copies of the flyer are available at the Extension Office.
