Somewhere Under the Rainbow

Hola!

We toured the Haras horse farm in    Cerr❤️a Punta where thoroughbred horses are born, raised and buried. The land is in a valley, full of beautiful views of the diverse Panamanian land.

We saw some well- cared for Thoroughbred race horses along with some pregnant ones. Most of the horses were friendly enough for students to touch and one was calm enough for everyone to sit on him and take photos.

Being on the farm was a relaxing and peaceful time. It’s fairly quiet with only a few horses making noise, offering a break from the silence.

We ended our farm visits with lunch on a local vegetable farm that lost most of their crops in the November floods. This was an important reminder that farmers face challenges due to weather, yet continue to persevere. Last year, Panda Panama dealt with a severe drought, this year, unprecedented rains. A humble reminder that climate change is happening across the globe.

We’ve now settled in to Boquete for a few days and this is the view from my balcony.  Tomorrow we start the day with a visit to a coffee farm. Panama produces the most expensive coffee in the world, Geisha coffee. This type of coffee recently sold for a record auction price of $10,013 per kilogram! I’m not a coffee drinker and can’t imagine paying that much for any drink.

We will not be tasting that coffee but I’ll report back on which beans are offered.

Buenas Noches!

A rainbow to welcome in the end of the day!
