From Boquete to Las Lajas
Hola! In the words of Luther Vandross “The sun is shining, there’s plenty of light. A new day is dawning, sunny and bright.”
We wrapped up our time in Boquete with a day of excursions for the students and the other RDs. I spent the day wandering around Boquete. Boquete is located on the Western side of Panama and known for being a popular ex-pat community. It’s a beautiful town in the Chiriqui province where life moves at a slower pace than the US with a strong sense of community.
As I explored the town, people greeted me on the streets, Buen Dia (good day) and Buenas Tardes ( good afternoon) and smiles. After days of cool weather, jacket required, feeling the warmth of the sun, practicing ordering lunch in Spanish and seeing lots of plants created a wonderful day.
Next we headed to Las Lajas to our beach-front resort! In an area where we will visit an indigenous comarca, Brahman cattle farm, a palm tree farm, participate in a service-leaning project and visit an eco-friendly farm.
We have a busy schedule but everyone seems to be enjoying themselves and I’m enjoying watching people stretch outside of their comfort zones while being open to new ways of being, farming and eating.
Enjoy the views!
