So I didn’t exactly stick to the assignment, which was to draw a self-portrait from observation. I started out doing something realistic, but got really frustrated after a while and ended up scribbling in all the shading. I thought it looked kinda cool, and stopped working on it after a bit because I liked the roughness of it.
After that I kinda just doodled some really stylized self-portraits, still looking at myself through my iPad camera for reference. This was way more fun because I actually felt somewhat competent and was happy with what I made, unlike the first drawing. I also felt like I had a lot more freedom to do what I wanted when I wasn’t worrying about something being drawn realistically enough.
