As a reminder, all 4-H Volunteers are required to attend one (1) training session in order to maintain their volunteer status for the 2018 4-H year. Three (3) training dates are scheduled for returning volunteers and two (2) training dates are scheduled for new volunteers.

NEW! Online Volunteer Training Option
New for 2018, 4-H volunteers with two previous, continuous years of volunteer experience (2016 and 2017) may complete their required training online. Please note that this is a pilot program and may or may not be continued in the future. At least one volunteer from each club should still attend an in-person training to receive the updates and club information for the year.
About the Online Training
- Completed online through 4HOnline (software we use for enrollment)
- Please plan 90—120 minutes. The time needed will vary by person. The training does not need to be done in one sitting – you may leave the training at the end of any module. It is not recommended to leave mid-module. Firefox is required to run the training modules.
- To meet the training requirements you must complete three modules
1. Year 1 OSU Policy 1.50 Child Abuse and Neglect Training
2. OSU Policy 1.50 Child Abuse and Neglect Quiz
3. Any additional module of your choice (8 Key Elements, Club Financials, Club Structure, Membership, Name & Emblem or Mission, Vision and Values) - Click here for the online training instructions.
New 4-H Volunteers
If you have been thinking about becoming a 4-H volunteer, talk with your club’s head advisor to determine how you can assist your club or contact Kelly Royalty at royalty.9@osu.edu for other volunteer opportunities.
New volunteers are required to (1) complete an application; (2) agree to and sign the volunteer standards of behavior form; (3) have references collected by Extension professionals; (4) submit a criminal history background check; (5) complete an interview; ; and (6) participate in an orientation/training program. New Volunteer applications are due to OSU Extension by February 1. 4-H Volunteer screenings must be completed, no later than February 28 in order to be a 4-H advisor for the 2018 program year.
