Brief Annotation

The target audience for this information is students. More specifically it is high school students and early college students. This is a young demographic who is tech savvy and are familiar with infographics. The goal of this project is to create an infographic that informs and teaches students about the importance of reducing E-waste and the affects it has on our environment. The goal of the infographic is to provide educational background on the topic and present guided interactive solutions. The design I chose was very interesting. I think the title is strong and attention grabbing to start with. The colors I chose were bold and not to colorful or distracting. I think that helps the information stand out. Each section contains a bold headline with the corresponding information under it in smaller print. There is also an accompanying Image or graphing that corresponds to the information being presented. I believe all this helps with the follow and presentation of the information. The specific features used in the design that address the learning objectives include creating the infographic specific to the target audience. I believe I kept the information specific, relevant and targeted to teaching students about E-Waste. Another feature was keeping the design simple and focused. One of the advantages of infographics is that they can distill advanced ideas into a simple visual form. I made sure I only focused on providing the most important information. Another feature that helps with learning objectives is that I showed things visually. The best infographics are ones that have a good balance of visual information with written information. For example I included a map of the top three countries that produce the most E-Waste. Another design aspect was that the infographic focused on the flow. I tried to convey an idea by taking the reader from one phase to another, sequentially and seamlessly. Everything is connected, and the ideas integrated. The flow will help the user pay attention and to be persuaded by the message that is being presented.
