ESLTECH 7297 – DESIGNING MULTIMEDIA FOR INSTRUCTION
Instructor: Dr. Tracey A. Stuckey-Mickell (aka Dr. Tray)
About Me:
My name is Ali Osman. I have an undergraduate in computer science, and I am currently working on a MLT degree. This is my first semester and I am taking two courses this semester. I am really excited about this degree, and so far the two classes I am taking are amazing. I hope to finish in the next two years. Aside from attending school, I also work full time. I currently work at the OSU Wexner Medica Center and an IT communications going to technician. I really like this program because it relates to a lot of the courses and topic I studied in undergraduate.
Purpose of website:
The purpose of this website is to showcase my Multimedia Production Project. This website allows me to apply all that I have learned about the creation and use of instructional multimedia. It will showcase the design principles I have learned throughout the semester, and this website will apply the principles of multi-media design for instruction. In addition to applying principles, the website will show my use of current multi-media authoring tools to three products that will make up a portfolio of media products that you will be featured on this website.
This project consists of four parts:
- Project proposal,
- Infographic or illustration,
- Interactive learning object with video/audio AND learner input ( quizzing, learner control of navigation, learner manipulation of digital objects, etc)
Overview
This is the final part of our multi-media project. This is the final portfolio website to showcase everything I’ve learned in the course throughout the semester. The portfolio website is to serve as
an online delivery mechanism for the multimedia learning objects the we have created during this course.
This is to serve as a showcase website for our work. For the portfolio website, we were tasked to create a basic web page, using U.OSU.EDU, to display and deliver the learning objects created for the multimedia production project.
The portfolio website will include final revised versions of each product of our Multimedia Production Work:
• Project Proposal
• Infographic or illustration with Text and Still Images
• Mixed-media Interactive Learning Object
Course Overview
Description: Introduction to the instructional capabilities and hands-on development of multimedia; topics include relevant learning theories, authoring techniques and design models.
Additional Description: The course provides an introductory overview of multimedia learning principles and development strategies. Students will learn to specify requirements for the design, development, and evaluation of multimedia learning materials. Further, students will demonstrate basic proficiencies across a spectrum of multimedia learning materials development as well as the appropriateness of these solutions for specific instructional goals. The research base for the course exists in the areas of cognitive learning theory, motivation, visual design principles, communication, usability, multimedia learning principles and instructional design as applicable to designing multimedia instructional products.
