About Me

Hi, my name is Ally Evans and I am studying Chemistry at the Ohio State University.  I am also working towards earning a minor in dance and forensic science. I came to The Ohio State University from Brecksville, Ohio, a suburb near Cleveland. OSU is one of the most popular schools for seniors who graduate from my high school, but I didn’t choose it because everyone else does; I chose OSU because it has some of the best programs and could provide me with any opportunity I could possibly imagine.

In High School I was involved in National Honors Society, Tri-M (music honors society), student council, marching and concert band, and dance. I was also involved in a service organization called HUDDLE that helped teach younger kids about the dangers of drugs and alcohol. I was the treasurer of my marching band and I was a math tutor which gave me valuable leadership experience as well as many responsibilities. I have been a dancer for 14 years and have been able to continue throughout my college career. I have also taught many dance classes which gave me leadership and communication skills. Dancing has made me more confident and provided me with an artistic outlet. I think it is so important to understand how art and creativity can benefit any career, even STEM related. I am a visual learner and do best when I am able to see or touch what ever it is I am attempting to master. This is probably why I like working in labs on chemistry and visualizing scientific ideas. So far at OSU, along with STEM EE Scholars, I have been able to get involved in Dance Connection, outreach, teaching Zumba classes, and being a teaching assistant for freshman chemistry.

After my undergraduate studies, I plan on getting my masters in forensic chemistry and later working on research or in a lab. I am interested in criminal justice and think it would be very interesting to be a part of this system. I am also interested in medicinal chemistry and can see myself in medical school or working on medical research. Being in scholars will help me decide which path is the best for me and what I am meant to do in the future. I am very excited to be a part of the STEM EE scholars program because it will provide me with the resources necessary to guide me to research opportunities, graduate or medical school, and later a job. I can’t wait for the rest of my time at OSU where I am able to meet new people and head towards my future in STEM!
