Live switching between camera(s) and graphics is often a popular recording request with us. To do so, our team needs video switching hardware/software. To make for an easy setup and lighten our team’s coverage, our Systems Manager, Allison Donel, has been installing the necessary equipment into our different booths. As of now, we have installed switchers in BRT 115, Ross 1213, DHLRI 170, James L035, James L045, and James B050. We also have a mobile rack (right picture) available for off-site switching. No matter the situation, we’re covered!

Today we encountered a loud tone coming from the HVAC system on set. There are a couple different ways to fix this problem, but we decided to rig up a sound blanket. It completely eliminated the tone, which cleaned up our audio for this video. Problem SOLVED!

Guess what? We often support more than classrooms and auditoriums. This was a basic PA setup out in the Meiling lobby for the College of Medicine art show reception. They needed microphones and speakers for their award ceremony but also played music throughout the event.

Today’s Heather Pick Music Program featured Dr. Erin Torres and her students. We brought the necessary mics to capture this unique flute performance and live broadcasted it up to all the patient rooms to enjoy.

This project is for Michael Caligiuri, MD, Director of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and CEO of the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute. Dr. Caliguiri plans to attend every new employee orientation at The James. We recorded this introduction and short welcome speech to play when he is unable to attend.

On this project, our team returned to Cath Lab 5 to shoot a video explaining TAVR and a mitral valve replacement. We’re working with Dr. Lilly, Dr. Boudoulas, and the Ross Heart Hospital marketing team on this one.

This is one of our largest annual events, the State of the Cancer Address. Solove Research Institute, presents Ohio State’s cancer program’s accomplishments from the past year and looks forward to a future as we work together to create a cancer-free world. For this Heather Pick Music Program performance, we went outdoors! This live band was playing at full volume to anyone in the area. We collaborated with Live Technologies! to provide the sound system and Ohio HD to provide the extra crew necessary to pull this one off. Of course, the show was live streamed up to the patient rooms as well.

What do you do when its nice outside and the office is slow? How about some b-roll? B-roll is secondary footage that we insert into our projects to better help tell the story. In this case, we climbed up to the top of the safe auto parking garage to get some establishing WMC shots.
