GOALS

Global Awareness: I have attended many classes and workshops on diversity and different aspects of diversity. I am currently involved with a program called LLDI with workshops that is for latinx students at the Ohio State University. I am also involved with events held by the Office of Diversity and Inclusion which expose me to many different cultures. These help me stay well aware. I am also a part of the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation, and Morrill Scholars Program which are both programs that focus on diversity and inclusion. I believe this is a crucial area to be highly involved with and aware of.

Original Inquiry: I am currently doing research at the The Wilma H. Schiermeier Olentangy River Wetland Research Park. Here I am studying and exploring water quality, and different ways water can be improved. I do research on ways to help ecosystems through water and life associated with water to make the water systems healthy. I am also attempting to join a medical lab that does cardiovascular and skeletal muscle research. I believe these research experiences will change my life in a very positive way, and I think I will be able to make a huge positive impact on life.

Academic Enrichment: I believe doing research is a great way to enrich my academics. This teaches me many skills in classes, and analyzing things with knowledge obtained by my classes. I also take honors classes and high level classes to increase the rigor of my academic career. I think that there are many great ways to enrich my academics, and they tie in very well with other important parts of my life.

Leadership Development: I am planning on going to leadership conferences like SHPE, and SACNAS to hopefully learn leadership skills and improve my communication as a leader. I am also in The Latinx Leadership Development Institute where they teach leadership skills and how they can be put into place to be successful. I believe strong leadership is important in life, but along with this I value teamwork very heavily with leadership.

Service Engagement: I plan to volunteer at the hospital, and for different organizations around the community. I am in Med Life and Doctors without borders which both supply me with many opportunities to do community service and volunteer. I believe helping in the community is very important, and will also help me to be a more well rounded individual.

Year in Review

[ “Year in Review”  is where you should reflect on the past year and show how you have evolved as a person and as a student.  You may want to focus on your growth in a particular area (as a leader, scholar, researcher, etc.) or you may want to talk about your overall experience over the past year.  For more guidance on using your ePortfolio, including questions and prompts that will help you get started, please visit the Honors & Scholars ePortfolio course in Carmen.
