My name is Jamie E. Teeple and I received a Ph.D. in Educational Studies with a specialization in the Philosophy of Education from The Ohio State University in December 2018. My dissertation, “A Philosophical Analysis of STEM Education”, explored how STEM education might be governed less by a transactional, industry-centered approach to learning and guided more by a progressive, social justice-centered approach. I am currently serving as a visiting instructor in the Educational Studies Department at Denison University for the 2018-2019 academic year and teach courses such as “U.S. Education System” and “Philosophy of Education”. I recently published work in the journal Critical Education and will be presenting in a panel discussion at this year’s AERA conference on the relationship of STEM literacy to the experiences of black youth. I will always be indebted to my incredible professors in the Philosophy and History of Education program at OSU for preparing me to teach, publish, and grow in my field.
