Garden Care

Watering

Consistent watering of your plants is one of the fundamental aspects to seeing a strong return on your plants. You will want to consider the needs of your plants but generally ensuring a damp soil daily is a good starting point. I check my garden each morning and water the plants if there was no rain the previous day or projected in the forecast for the day. You will want to consider temperatures as well and ensure your plants have plenty of wet soil on the hottest summer days.

Trimming

Many plants enjoy a nice trim throughout their growing cycle. In smaller contained gardens this may be crucial to ensure plants are overcrowded. With most plants you will want to trim away dead or infected leaves to allow for stronger growth. Pruning plants can result in more strength as well as limiting any fungal spread.

Sunlight

It’s important to consider if plants require full or partial sun and arrange your plant placement accordingly. If you are utilizing potted options, you have the opportunity to move and turn plants as needed but garden beds will require more pre-planning.

Fertilizer

When mixing your initial soil for the garden plants I like to add some fertilizer to the mix. I find this to be the easiest option but there are also stakes of fertilizer and sprays that can be utilized after planting.
