Project Annotation

With the use of this video, high school students will be able to: (Comprehension Level) discuss the basic themes, ideas, and historical events behind the rise of Dadaism with other members of the class. This presentation with audio narration looks at some of the historical events that led to the rise of Dadaism as well as its main themes and ideas. Dadaism is an art topic that the teen docents will be studying during their summer course; it’s important that students understand Dadaism, as they will need to know this information as a student docent. The Coherence Principle is used- extraneous words/pictures/sounds are excluded. The Redundancy Principle is used- graphics and narration is included and onscreen text is kept to a minimum. Spatial Continuity Principle is important to this product as people learn better when corresponding words and pictures are presented near each other. Temporal Contiguity Principle is used as corresponding words and pictures presented simultaneously helps with learning. Segmenting Principle is used to give students a break between each idea/theme with quiz questions. Modality Principle is used as narration/graphics work better for learning than animation/on-screen text. Multimedia Principle is used as people learn better from words/pictures than from just words alone. Personalization and Voice Principles were used- I narrated this presentation using conversational style. These multimedia principles help learning objectives be realized by cutting down on information that is unnecessary/confusing while streamlining the product. PARC principles were taken into consideration for the presentation’s design. PowerPoint with the Office Mix add-on was used to design this multimedia object. While it was difficult getting the program downloaded properly due to problems with the download site, the program itself was incredibly intuitive and easy to use.
