Career

I am going to do a summer internship this next summer that I am hoping will help me launch into my future career after graduation. I am going to intern at PathSight Predictive Science in Greenwich, Connecticut. This company uses predictive science to determine the best marketing strategies and design structures for other companies. They use research gathered and have found a model that now best predicts how people see the world and then how they will react to it. Overall, I think that this internship will help me to bridge the gap between psychology and business and find what exactly I want to do with both of these fields.

I have also included my resume to demonstrate how I am building towards a career that combines both psychology and business.

Artifacts

An artifact to me that represents an important part of my life at OSU so far is the Mount Broomball team that I am on. I think that it has been a great way for me to do something fun with people in Mount. This team is a group of people that may not have had a ton of interaction so far so it has been a great way to start to talk to and really get to know more people in Mount. On top of that, it has been a great source of fun, camaraderie, and competition that I enjoy taking part of. This is a great experience that I think has definitely benefitted my time at Ohio State and in Mount thus far.

About Me

Hello. My name is Cassi Epstein. I am a first year undergraduate student who is majoring in Psychology. I am thinking about pursuing a career in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, however I am hoping to take some classes this year that will help me figure this out more. I graduated Fairfield Warde High School in 2017, where I was captain of the swim team and an active member of the Key Club.  When I am not studying, I enjoy reading, swimming, and finding the best restaurants around Columbus.

Year in Review

This year has been a big turning point in my year. I have evolved to become a much more independent person and I think that my character has grown. I have faced much more difficult classes and so I have learned to step up my academics and learn how to study better and be a better student. I also have learned how to handle time management and getting everything done on time on time better. My time in Mount has helped me branch out and meet more people who come from different backgrounds and different places than me and has helped me grow more confident in who I am. I also think that I have gotten to make friends that will be there for me continuing past my time at Ohio State which is great thing to have gained in such little time here so far. I am hoping to be able to continue all the growth that I have already experienced and take it further to continue to make myself better in my next few years in college and at Ohio State.

G.O.A.L.S.

As a student at Ohio State I have done multiple things with my time here that have fulfilled the Honors & Scholars G.O.A.L.S. The first thing that I would include is what I am currently studying. This fits in best with Academic Enrichment. I am finding out what I like and don’t like in the classroom and through this I have been better figuring out what career path I want to go into when I graduate.

I have also been interacting with Leadership Development and Service Engagement through my volunteering at the Broad Street After-school program. I am volunteering at this program for my scholar’s program Mount Leadership Society as well as the Leadership and Community Service class I am currently taking. At this afterschool program I am working with children ages 5 to around 15 and I am helping them with both schoolwork and learning to be more well-rounded in life. Through this I am learning how to be a good role model for kids who look up to me as an adult as well as how to make sure I am bettering my community and helping those who are going to be the future of both our community and our country.

I think that Ohio State, as well as my scholars’ program specifically, as helped me to find a way to get more involved with my community and find things that both interest me and help better those around me. I am excited to see what else I can gain from the rest of my time at Ohio State.
