Hohm Goals and Action Steps

Outcome Vision:
The restoration of the once great cultural capital of Hohm by utilizing the local grassroots organizational resources and diverse citizens to improve cohesion between our divided city. Hohm will become the gateway to Wooddijan’s National Park known for its opportunity, bustling cultural streets, local businesses, and restored river by encouraging more planned, locally based, sustainable development using the diverse voices in the community.
Community goal 1: We seek to start an annual river festival to celebrate the history of the river, increase ecotourism, and preserve the river.
Action steps
 Start an Environmental Defense Fund that includes local citizens in a membership program. They will help influence policy surrounding the river and lead the way in the annual river festival cleanup project.
 Create a River Cultural Preservation Committee with leaders from the Hohmies, industry polluters, and governmental water officials to oversee this cultural celebration of the river.
Fundraise for the river festival and cleanup by seeking support from communities tied to our watershed (A and C).
Long Term Action Step:
 Open a park that restores the banks of the river to its previous ecosystem and acts as the site of the annual river festival by fundraising at previous festivals, seeking help from business owners tied to the river, and seeking assistance from the government.
Community goal 2: We seek to utilize community centers to host events, educational and business classes, mentoring programs, and other events.
Action steps
 Invite locals business owners to host seminars/classes for other adults in the community.
 Start a youth mentoring program for middle and high schoolers to teach them about owning a business, developing trade skills, preparing for higher education, and other practical skills.
 Encourage grassroots efforts and organizations to participate in the community center to host cultural cohesion events.
Community goal 3: We seek to develop a Community Planning Committee guided by an equitable representation and concrete vision.
Action steps
