Ashtoid Goals and Action Steps

Community Development Goal 1:
Expand on the already growing creative community to enhance community relations and provide a source of revenue for Ashtroid.
o Encourage the Ashtroid Phoenixes to start hosting art expos and music concerts at their stadium this year to increase revenue and attract citizens and artists from all around Wooddijan.
o Consider collaborating with leaders of the other communities over the next few years to break ground on a museum and a new Arts District by 2025 to highlight the history Ashtroid and the other communities within Wooddijan.
o Begin the process of re-purposing manufacturing facilities into art complexes for completion by 2022 and creative spaces for both local and non-local artists to collaborate and complete their projects.
Community Development Goal 2:
Decrease the high school dropout rate among native city students and improve access to secondary education for immigrant citizens by improving the education system.
o Revise the city budget to allocate a larger portion of city funds
to Ashtroid’s vocational schools and establish training programs in trades other than
manufacturing among populations vulnerable to dropping out.
o
Local educational leaders have considered reaching out to the educational leaders
of Community B to create a two-and-two pilot program where high school graduates
can attend Prefontaine Community College in Ashtroid for two years and then transfer
to the University of Community B.
o
Local educational leaders have considered reaching out to educational leaders of
Community B to discuss the possibility of opening a regional campus in Ashtroid by
2030.
o
Work with the civic organizations to immediately create a high school service
program that develops vacant city lots into park spaces to increase student
engagement and retention.
Community Development Goal 3:
Increase the public’s trust in local leadership by increasing
opportunities to participate in decision-making.
Proposed action steps to achieve this goal:
o
Prove that the local leaders can provide services for the people
by immediately following up with the National Government on the significant cost-
share payment plan to secure the funds and begin the construct of a state-of-the-art
wastewater treatment plant.
o
Establish a community engagement council in under a year that contains local
political leaders and trusted leaders of the civic organizations to host open town
halls that provide a space for citizens to express their needs.
o
Host events about civic engagement opportunities and community plans at local
schools to increase political participation which will be measured by surveys and voter
turnout numbers.
