Honeybirch Goal and Action Steps

a. Attract tourism in order to boost financial capital.
i. Incentivise construction of hotel for tourists.
ii. Encourage cottage industries in downtown area and encourage farms to open stores and provide recreational activities to visitors (e.g. Apple picking, hay rides, etc.).
iii. Collaborate with stakeholders to hold an annual Root Beer festival.
b. Expand wealth of knowledge
i. We hope to collaborate with local university to offer higher education to local students via satellite or online learning options
ii. Organize a local cultural organization, emphasizing the birch bark industry’s history and traditions.
iii. Create an agreement with other communities to bring in more public educational resources (library, arts centers, museums through partnerships and agreements with national and university organizations.
c. Attract and retain young professionals
i. Start a summer camp program to employ locals, stimulate local economy, and hopefully create a partnership with communities A and B to provide K-12 students in urban environments with access to open, natural spaces and learning opportunities.
ii. Begin a young professionals group that gets youth and recent college graduates involved in the community development and government.
iii. Create a network for local entrepreneurs and artists in the community.
