This week is a favorite of many students. We explore the rich tradition of moral relations between Americans and wilderness.
- How have these relations helped to shape the formation of national parks and preservation ethics?
- How do we personally experience nature?
The synopsis assignment is a solo reflection in nature, and we will reflect on some of the religious and spiritual influences that shaped the formation of National Parks in the United States, including the scholarship of Mark Stoll, an environmental historian at Texas Tech (podcast).
We also listen to an interview with Cheryl Strayed about hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, and the healing and life changing impact of that journey.
