Welcome to the Future!

Welcome to the Group I subdivision of Koffolt Properties!

The subdivision, Group I, consists of Maddie Gwinn, Camille Corbi, Ryan Edelbach and Mike Elyian.

What is a Smart City?

Linden, a residential area of Columbus, has been chosen to participate in part of the Smart City Columbus. The City of Columbus was the winner of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s  Smart City Challenge. As a reward $50 million dollars was awarded to the city in grant funding and named the designation of America’s Smart City. A “Smart City”  embraces the reinvention of transportation and it’s goal is to accelerate human progress, in a efficient and Eco-friendly way. The actions of Columbus will hopefully inspire other cities around the world to become smarter. Linden has been chosen to be an area of Columbus in which smart transportation will be available. This will connect citizens to areas around Columbus, as well as work and commercial areas.

Passengers:

Group I of Koffolt Properties has worked hard to ensure an affordable, safe, and energy efficient means of transportation. The AEV has been made as safe as possible by adding the Servo to the AEV, the servo ensures that the AEV will stop in the correct location, and brakes the AEV right away instead of letting it coast to a stop.  The AEV has also been made affordable to passengers by ensuring that the cost was kept down through a lightweight and compact design.  The AEV has also been made efficient by ensuring that that the AEV uses two motors rather than one. Using two motors rather than one ensures that the AEV can carry more weight while using the least amount of energy as possible.

Team Approach:

Our goal as a team is to not only build the most efficient means of transportation while staying inside of the budget but also to ensure the future of Columbus transportation. The safety of our passengers is of utmost importance when considering all aspects of our AEV. We start at the beginning of this process by breaking down each necessary steps into its components and building towards the final product. There are a lot of moving parts and variables to the design and completion of the AEV and we want to ensure that our AEV is the best that it can be. Our team philosophy of eating an elephant one bite at a time will be apparent when each sub-part is done to the best of its ability and has a fitting role in the final product. We strive to design an AEV that is accurate and efficient while also minimizing cost and energy needs. The AEV will demand a lot but when broken down like we are doing, we believe the project will be a lot more manageable.
