- Mostly discussed future availability, brief outline of project approach.
- Jeff brought up the team overview for the site, initiated putting the team page together
- Coltin is going to complete the approach/vision for the team site
- Shepherd, Drake, and Coltin are going to add their pictures to the site
- Shepherd is going to Coordinate with Drake for a to-do list for the planning stages of the project
Meeting Number 2 (in class)
Hitchcock Hall. January 19th, 3:55-5:15pm

- We completed LMPreliminary R&D Exercise 1
- The electric motors performed as expected, with the exception of preliminary resistance, as the began to accelerate from zero, it took them a significant amount of time to overcome friction.
Meeting Number 3
12th Ave Bread Co. January 20th 1-1:45pm
Shepherd, Coltin, and Jeff in attendance.
- Mostly discussed upcoming tasks, brought up by Shepherd
- Discussing goals
- Budget $500,000.. If you go over, you lose points
- AEV is supposed to travel from a loading zone, through a gate, to another dock.
- Will go through gate, pause at the gate, go pick up payload, and go back
- There are elevation changes
- Discussing design
- How many motors, where they’d be located
- May use servo as a brake, will have to see how quickly the AVE slows down
- Balance between speed and energy efficiency
- Most of the budget goes towards the actual run
- Final run will be towards end of semester
- Individual preferences
- Shepherd oversee budget, SolidWorks creation
- Jeff will do software engineering
- Coltin willing to do everything, no preference

Meeting Number 4
12th Ave Bread Co. February 8th 5:15-6pm
Shepherd, Drake, and Coltin in attendance.
In this meeting, we discussed who was going to do what portion of the progress report. Shepherd volunteered to do the sections labeled “Looking Forward”, Drake is doing the first two labeled “Looking Backward” and Coltin is to do the other two sections labeled “Looking Backward”. That leaves Jeff to upload the Team Meeting Minutes and the Arduino Code.
The group present also decided within the next week, we would like to organize a meeting with a delegate from each of our other companies. Brainstorming for the AEV designs and the entire EDP will be done in lab on 2/8/2018.
Meeting Number 5 (in class)
Hitchcock Hall. February 9th, 3:55-5:15pm
All members presence
- Beginning of advanced R&D
- Discussed with TA’s 3D Printing new Body
- Parts will cost 20$ a part out of budget +10% markup
- Will have to email all the ta’s the part to get it printed
- Shepherd brought up and designed the new body
- Considering printing a second experimental body
- Jeff proposed using budget to print the additional experimental body to provide more R&D data and possibly use as an ultralight design
Energy Analysis
Progress Report Deliverables:
First attempt ran too far, slowing speed of motors to 25%
- Describe performance of AEV wheel count sensors during the run on the straight track. What was the Mark’s Error? What did the team do to reduce this error?
- It went 64 marks (wheel count)
Meeting Number 6

Jeff, Shepherd, and Drake Present.
- Organizing grant proposal
- Shepherd will give the grant proposal on Friday
- Slide is in the google drive folder, completed by present member
- Committee Meeting
- Jeff and Shepherd on R&D Committee
- Drake is HR
- Drake will prepare for team meeting minutes, team working agreement
- Coltin is PR
Each will prepare for the committee, will need to wear business casual on Friday
Meeting Number 7 (Make-Up Lab, not out of budget time per Dr. Ratcliff)

- Jeff beginning work on Oral Presentation
- Created Powerpoint, added pictures, finished team intro, AEV intro.
- Still needs conclusions drawn and looking forward.
- Will need to assign parts for presentation. Difficult with Coltin Absent. Jeff volunteered to take intro
- Drake touching up website update
- Added week 5, added pictures, updated meeting minutes, updated evolution of design.
- Shepherd Fixing Progress Report 1 for the rewrite
- Still needs conclusions drawn from data collected, which is in Hitchcock and will get tomorrow.
- Jeff beginning work on Oral Presentation
Meeting Number 9
18th Ave Library. March 8th, 7:30pm-10:00pm
All members present
- The team began with discussing the goals for the meeting, dividing out work.
- First, as a team, we disassembled the AEV and reassembled with the new chassis.
- Meanwhile, Jeff wrote out an outline for Progress Report 2 and the team divided the sections evenly.
