Lab 5 – Concept Screening and Scoring
This week, the team worked together to evaluate each potential design for the AEV. They evaluated the following success criteria: cost, energy efficiency, balance, weight, durability, maintenance, and aerodynamics. Each design was scored with each of these categories using a – , 0, or + symbol. The scores were tallied for each design and the net score helped determine if the design would continue to be worked on or not. Next, the team evaluated how weighted each category should be for an even more accurate scoring guide. The team scored each design on a scale of 1-5 and then multiplied that score by the weighted percentage for that success criteria category. Adding those scores provided a total score that the team used to determine if the AEV design will continue to be worked on and refined.
