Individual AEV Designs
David’s design:
Luke’s design:
Tyler’s design:
Tyler intended for his design of the AEV to reduce the overall cost of the AEV and to improve the balance of the AEV. By placing in the Arduino and motors on one side of the AEV and the wheels and battery on the other, he hoped to create a more stable and balanced AEV. Also, by placing the parts closer together, Tyler hoped to reduce the size of the base, which would reduce the overall cost of the AEV. The positives of Tyler’s design were it was well-balanced and uses less material than the sample AEV. However, Tyler’s design does not improve from the sample AEV’s weight, cost, speed, and aerodynamics and also has a less appealing style than the sample AEV. As a result, Tyler’s design was similar to the sample AEV in quality.
Team Design:
The team design was inspired by Donghyun’s style, Luke’s strong T-frame for the wheels, and the combined notion of a brake. The brake will be able to effectively and efficiently slow the AEV at the gate and both docks. Therefore, the AEV will be able to complete the course more quickly and also be extremely more safe because it will not need to rely solely on friction to stop. However, due the additional brake part and servo, the AEV will be heavier than the other designs and the reference design.
