2 x Trapezoid – $8000

2 x Electric Motors – $19,800

1 x T-Shape Arm – $3000

2 x Propellers – $900

1 x Servo Motor – $5950

2 x Count Sensor – $4000

1 x Angle Bracket – $840

Total Cost – $148,490

In my design, I added in the trapezoidal pieces on the sides in order to potentially make the vehicle more aerodynamic. Also, I changed the placement of the battery and added a T-Shape Arm to make the vehicle more balanced overall. The sample AEV design is very front-loaded, so in my design I attempted to even some of that weight out. The changes that I have made in my design should help the vehicle to move more efficiently, without adding too much unnecessary weight. The only other thing I would need to add is a metallic piece at the front of the vehicle that would serve to attract the magnet and secure the caboose.

Estimated Weight: 0.5 lbs

1 x Arduino – $100,000

1 x T-Shape – $2,000

3 x Trapezoid – $12,000

2 x 1″x3″ Rectangle-$2,000

2 x Electric Motors – $19,800

1 x T-Shape Arm – $3,000

2 x Propellers – $9,00

1 x Servo Motor – $5,950

2 x Count Sensor – $4,000

2 x Count Sensor Connector – $4,000

5 x Angle Bracket – $4200

Total Cost – $157,850

This design is very similar to the original design, however, it incorporates a few more pieces to enhance its performance.  A trapezoid was added to each side to make the overall vehicle more aerodynamic.  Also, a compartment was added to the front using a trapezoid with a metal piece and two rectangles to all for the caboose to be picked up.  The original design did not have a compartment or piece of metal to pick up the caboose so this design should correct the issue.

This design looks over balance because the objects are centered. Additionally, it looks over placement of battery and the controller with the propellers to make the AEV efficient. In addition, with the T-arm in the middle, it really provides a safe, reliable vehicle because it is centered, unlike the original design.
