Date: 8 – March – 2019
Time: 9:35-10:55
Members Present: Larenz Coles, Tara Maynard, Brittany Shine, & Allan Thomas
Location: Hitchcock 224
Objective:
Complete Performance Test 1 and use additional time to finish aR&D 2.
Topics Discussed: Lab 11
- Larenz volunteered to code the performance test
- Tara calculated the number of marks to reach about 4 ft from the gate (to allow for extra space)
- The first two trials went too far past the gate because the AEV coasted for longer than expected
- The third trial stopped at gate but rolled backwards
- Larenz changed the amount of time the propellers reversed
- The fourth trial successfully stopped at the gate
- Larenz continued to code the AEV to stop for 8 seconds (with an additional second for safety because gate takes 7 seconds to open)
- The team tested the AEV and prior to asking UTA to grade; AEV successfully passed performance test 1
To Do/Action Items:
- Prepare for extra lab time
- Finish aR&D during extra lab time on Monday, March 18 at 6:30
- Work on individual parts for Progress Report and Website Update (All – Mar 19)
- Begin planning for Oral Presentation
Reflections:
- Without using the physical break, the AEV needs plenty of time to coast before stopping
- Just because propellers stop doesn’t mean the AEV does
- Changing the amount of time the propellers reverse can control how quickly the AEV stops and prevents the AEV from continuing to roll backwards
- The code will need to be changed if a physical break is implemented
