AEV Design

The focus of the team, when designing the AEV, was to reduce the mass of the vehicle and to make the AEV as aerodynamic as possible. A lightweight aerodynamic AEV will require the least amount of power to transport the caboose and be the most efficient.

Battery Holder Design

The original battery holder supplied with the AEV kit was bulky, not very flexible, and was difficult to adjust and insert the battery. A few designs were tested to determine the most efficient battery holder. The team decided on a battery holder consisting of two rubber bands. This design has a lower mass while also being more flexible and easier to work with than the original.

Arduino Codes

The AEV code that has been created was done so with efficiency in mind. The balance between the power supplied to the motors and speed the AEV can travel, were tested to provide the lowest cost option for running the vehicle. Other variables, such as consistency, were taken into account when determining the speed and braking method applied to the AEV.
