Design Process C

Design 1

Pros: Stable design

Cons: Bulky and requires a long set up

Design 2

Pros: Simple and aerodynamic

Cons: May have balance issues, large and may require set up

Design 3

Pros: Aerodynamic, light

Cons: Might be too light to carry all components.

Design 4

Pros: Symmetrical and thin for aerodynamics

Cons: Center of balance is no in center of wheels

Design 5 – This design will be further developed

Pros: Light, aerodynamic

Cons: May have balance issues

Design 6 – This design will be further developed

Pros: Design is simple and symmetrical. Aerodynamic.

Cons: Parts may be crowded on AEV. Would have to be taken apart often.

The following are the criteria on which the designs are based on equally.

Stability – AEV must have a decent center of gravity and cannot place too much weight on small parts

Blockage – AEV must not interfere with the track that is it on

Maintenance – AEV must be set up quickly when taken out of box

Durability – AEV must be structurally sound

Safety – AEV must not easily fall of the track or fall apart

The group’s has decided to minimize weight and drag by creating a vertical design. The weight of all necessary parts will be evenly distributed.
