Concept Screening and Scoring

The idea of concept screening and scoring is to determine which design is best to use for the specific criteria we have established as a group. A + is used in the screening to say that the aspect of a specific design is better than the reference. A- is used to say that it is worse, and a 0 is used to say that it is just as good. We determined the weighting on the screening by order of value that each component had to each of us. Multiplying the score of each component in each design by the weight of each criteria respectively and adding the results up according to each design gives us a good idea of which design is the best fit for us as a group.

The categories for both of these charts are, from top to bottom, are weight distribution, component security, arduino accessibility, durability, and aesthetics.

After completing the screening and scoring, we have decided that either Anna’s design (sketch 2) and the team design were good enough designs to move forward with. We are utilizing these two designs for the next stage of development.
