Data Analysis Tool Team N

 ⚙Data Analysis Tool ⚙

The data analysis tool was introduced in the PR&D section of the AEV project. This lab allowed for the engineers to understand how to use the MATLAB based data analysis tool to analyze data from their own AEV later on in the project. Below is the sample data collected from the performance of the Data Analysis Tool lab.

The figures shown above are the Power vs. Distance and Power vs. Time graphs of the first performance analysis test run. This data was collected from running the AEV code for lab 4, and projected onto a graph by using the AEV Data Analysis Application in MatLab.

For the Power vs. Time graph, the gradual rise from 0 to 3 seconds represents the motors accelerating over a three second period. There is an almost instantaneous drop in power after 4 seconds, simulating the motor speed reducing in power. The large spike at 6 seconds is the motors reversing direction. At the 8 second mark, the motors brake immediately, as noted by the sharp drop to 0 watts of power.

For the Power vs. Distance graph, the parabolic curve at the start of the graph shows how the AEV travels more distance as it increases in power output. The drop in power from 25% to 20% is still visible on the graph, but the AEV continues to move forward at a constant rate. Also, the reversal of the motors still yields a constant rate of distance versus power output until the motors brake completely and the AEV stops moving.
