Lab 2: External Sensors

Progress Report:

The commands used in this lab, which give a specific location to which the AEV is to travel, while more specific with regard to distance traveled than a general acceleration command, can be limiting to the success of the AEV’s performance. Just because a brake command is executed, that does not stop the AEV from moving, it simply is not being pushed further because of its momentum.

Sensors properly secured:

Reflectance Sensors:

The sensors monitor the distance traveled by the AEV by detecting individual reflections which serve as “marks” on one of the wheels. Each mark is associated with .4875 inches traveled. The sensors track how many marks have passed in front of them, and when the commanded number has been reached, they tell the motors to stop.
