In-Class Meeting #15

Date/Time: 04-03-18/ 11:30 am

Location: Hitchcock Hall, Rm 308

Members Present: Alec Braun, Payton Gliane, Billy Kelly, Mia Rizzo

Topics/Agenda:

  • Continue Testing
  • Finalize Performance Test 3
  • Develop plans for next meeting and what needs to be accomplished before we see each other again.

Action items with names assigned:

The team was not able to get tested for the final Performance Test due to complications switching between the track in the lab and the track in the classroom. Adjustments needed to be made to the number of marks travelled and the power consumption during trials. The test is content with the progress that was made because we believe that there should be no issues testing on Thursday.

The team was unaware of the data needed to be collected during the performance tests and plan on collecting graph data for Progress Report 3. With the due date being pushed back that allows the team to be able to meet and make proper observations. The team is on track to complete everything in a timely manner.

In-Class Meeting #16

Date/Time: 04-05-18/ 11:30 am

Location: Hitchcock Hall, Rm 308

Members Present: Alec Braun, Payton Gliane, Billy Kelly, Mia Rizzo

Topics/Agenda:

  • Continue Testing
  • Finalize Performance Test 3
  • Collecting Data for Progress Report 3
  • Develop plans for next meeting and what needs to be accomplished before we see each other again.

Action items with names assigned:

The team was able to continue testing and making changes to the code. The AEV has been inconsistent throughout the process. The team feels it’s due to battery issues, but the team continues to change the code through the lab periods to make sure the code is working. The team was able to collect graph data for position vs. time and position vs. distance for performance test 3. This will show how the code developed for Performance Test 1 and Performance Test 2 as well. The team is very proud of the progress that has been made and plans on continuing the hard work until the end of the project.

The team plans to meet to complete the Progress Report and start the Final Oral Presentation Draft.

Outside Meeting #11

Date/Time: 04-08-18/ 7:00 pm

Location: Drackett Tower, 1st Floor

Members Present: Alec Braun, Payton Gliane, Billy Kelly, Mia Rizzo

Topics/Agenda:

  • Finish Progress Report #3
  • Create Final Presentation Slides
  • Develop plans for next meeting and what needs to be accomplished before we see each other again.

Action items with names assigned:

The team met to finalize the Progress Report. The team had been working on the progress report for basically the span of two weeks. The team made sure that everything that needed to be placed in the report was included and formatted correctly.

The team also started the Final Presentation slides. Payton and Billy outlined the entire presentation together. Payton made sure to place the proper images and Billy wrote out the important concepts on the slides. The slides were then split up between the members, where each member is in charge of 2 or 3 slides. Each member determined what they would say when presenting and estimated how long it would take. The team was basically able to finish the draft and progress report at the same time.

The team plans to finish up what’s left of the Final Presentation Draft and have Payton submit when it’s ready. The team will continue to work on the final performance test in lab.

In-Class Meeting #17

Date/Time: 04-10-18/ 11:30 am

Location: Hitchcock Hall, Rm 308

Members Present: Alec Braun, Payton Gliane, Billy Kelly, Mia Rizzo

Topics/Agenda:

  • Continue Testing
  • Finalize Performance Test 3
  • Start Cost Spreadsheet
  • Develop plans for next meeting and what needs to be accomplished before we see each other again.

Action items with names assigned:

The team was successful in creating a code that works. The team gathered how much energy was in use, how much time it takes to have the AEV travel, but the team realized that we are $64,000 over budget. This would place the team at a B, and the team would rather take the time to figure out if they can achieve an A, if possible. The team is trying ways to lower the energy and reduce the amount of time on the track. The team will continue testing and will either use the original code or create a more efficient code.

In-Class Meeting #18

Date/Time: 04-12-18/ 11:30 am

Location: Hitchcock Hall, Rm 308

Members Present: Alec Braun, Payton Gliane, Billy Kelly, Mia Rizzo

Topics/Agenda:

  • Continue Testing
  • Finalize Performance Test 3
  • Develop plans for next meeting and what needs to be accomplished before we see each other again.

Action items with names assigned:

During this lab period, the team was able to receive a grade for the first run of the performance test. There were still technical difficulties that the TAs had to assist us with, but we were successful fixing them. Using our first attempt, we received an 84% due to the fact that we were still over budget with a high energy consumption of 414 J. The team was pleased with the progress that was made but plans to meet during the last lab period to try and lower the energy consumption and time even more than before.

Payton was in charge of the cost spreadsheet. Alec was in charge of compiling the code and presenting a graph of the energy consumption. Mia was in charge of editing the code between each trial run. And Billy was in charge of making adjustments to the AEV during testing.

In-Class Meeting #19

Date/Time: 04-13-18/ 11:10 am

Location: Hitchcock Hall, Rm 224

Members Present: Alec Braun, Payton Gliane, Billy Kelly, Mia Rizzo

Topics/Agenda:

  • Continue Testing
  • Finalize Performance Test 3
  • Develop plans for next meeting and what needs to be accomplished before we see each other again.

Action items with names assigned:

The team continued to work on Performance Test 3, using the same roles has been previously discussed in other meeting notes. The team was successful in completing another run, using our second attempt, and received a 91%. The team was able to remove items from the Arduino to cut costs, lower the energy by about half, and lower the time to about 45 seconds. The team cut all of the power brakes out of code to lower power consumption which led to difficulty timing when the AEV was going to stop and where. The AEV did not have a perfect run because the AEV had to be stopped twice at the gate. The team was overall pleased with the progress and the final product.

The team will continue to prepare for the final presentation and update all documentation accordingly.

Outside Meeting #12

Date/Time: 04-18-18/ 8:30 pm

Location: Drackett Tower, 1st Floor

Members Present: Alec Braun, Billy Kelly, Mia Rizzo

Topics/Agenda:

  • Update the Website

The team was able to edit the CDR and make changes with the suggestions the TAs laid out for us. Payton was unable to attend the meeting but completed her work before and after the meeting occurred. Each member of the team revised their sections that were divided up during the draft. Another member read over the section that they were not in charge of to make sure that there was consistency and correction to errors addressed in the draft.

The team was able to take apart the AEV to return to lab on Friday.

Payton has been able to add to the final presentation and the website periodically to make sure that those other pieces of documentation that are due on Friday stay on track. As a team those areas will be reviewed and the team hopes to be prepared for their presentation time on Friday.

The team plans to meet again, so that the other parts of the documentation can be completed.

Alec was able to upload the graphs onto the website and Payton was able to finalize the codes. Payton looked over the website and plans to turn in the link to our website.

The CDR was read over as a team and each member edited certain sections that needed more love.

The team practiced the presentation and Payton submitted it. The team is prepared to give a great presentation tomorrow.

The team is content with the work completed.
