CDR Schedule & Team Meeting Notes

Note: These notes match the Team Notes for Performance Test 3 because the two events occurred the same week, and the team did not feel it was necessary to hold two meetings that week.

This week, the team met at the Hitchcock Engineering Lab on April 7th, 2017 at 7:15 PM. This location was chosen because it would allow the team to easily complete the eleventh progress report together after the meeting.

Travis Lee started the discussion by asking if anyone in the team felt the need to do the bonus video. While it would likely guarantee them an A in the class, the team members felt the video was unnecessary. Everyone had done previous bonus assignments, and everyone wanted to focus on studying for finals. Thus the team finally removed the task from its to-do list.

Next, Joseph Dandrea mentioned his progress on the online portfolio. He had written posts for every lab and promised to transfer them to the portfolio this week. He also stated that he would attempt to make the website seem more professional through aesthetics and organization.

Davin and Max then shared their progress on the oral presentation draft. The two team members had completed the slideshow and assigned each group member a set of slides based on that group member’s AEV expertise. After looking through the slideshow and speaking order, Joseph and Travis both approved of the draft. Max stated that he wanted to do a few more adjustments, but the slideshow was basically done.

Finally, Joseph brought up the need to start on the CDR. Since the CDR is a large portion of the team’s grade, Joseph felt it would be a good idea to start early. The team agreed to begin work on it after the eleventh progress report was turned in.
The team then worked on and completed the eleventh progress report.

PDR Schedule & Team Meeting Notes

The team met at Starbucks despite no one in the group liking coffee. This was a very brief meeting since the team already had a full meeting earlier in the week. The team mostly discussed what needed to be done to finally finish this class. Joseph Dandrea started by saying that he would complete Progress Report 10 by himself. He found that the reports took him two hours regardless if anyone else helped, so it would be simpler if he just worked alone. Next, Max brought up the bonus video. He stated that the team should meet the following weekend to complete the video. Travis Lee also stated that he would do all the editing for the video. Travis also mentioned that he would privately finish the Arduino coding for the final run. Finally, Joseph Dandrea mentioned that he would finish the Online Portfolio for the due date.

Performance Test 2 Schedule & Team Meeting Notes

The team met together at Chipotle this week after the SolidWorks midterm. This location was chosen because every member on the team was hungry. The official group discussion happened around 7:30 PM, after the team ate.

Despite the AEV project coming to an end, the team did not have a lot to talk about this week. Joseph Dandrea brought up the issue of completing a progress report by Monday, but by this point, every group member has sections of the progress reports he always does. Thus there was no need to discuss roles for the report; a simple reminder sufficed. Joseph Dandrea also mentioned that he had not updated the online portfolio for a while, but he would get it up to date this week.

Next, Travis discussed the requirements for completing the AEV run. He stated that he would take control as master coder and ensure the AEV code was perfected for the final run. He would also spend time outside of class debugging the code.
Finally, Max mentioned the impending oral presentation. Since Travis and Joseph would be occupied this week, it was agreed that Davin and Max would work on the presentation draft. The draft is expected to only require a maximum of three hours from both members.

Performance Test 1 Schedule & Team Meeting Notes

The team had this week’s meeting on Tuesday around 7:00 PM at CVS. The team chose this strange location in order to examine the motley of bottles that could be used as a base for the final AEV design. For example, the team has considered upgrading the bottle to a SmartWater Bottle in order to have more longitudinal space.

Most of the team’s discussion this week related to roles going forward. The team coordinator, Joseph Dandrea, said the team would likely benefit from specialization. It would prevent interference and arguments, and it would allow everyone to easily know his responsibilities and required work. As a result, Joseph Dandrea stated that he would organize all of the group’s data and work on the online portfolio. Team member Travis stated that he would make the primary edits and lead AEV testing. Team member Max stated that he would analyze and improve the AEV’s design. Finally, team member Davin declared himself the master coder; he would be in charge of all Arduino code.

The team also had brief discussion on what should be done in lab this week. Travis stated that he thought it would be the most efficient to try to perform as many tests on the track as possible. He believed this would allow the team to collect the most data and determine what designs changes need to be made over spring break. The team agreed that this would likely be the best use of the next lab time.
Finally, the team talked about coming assignments. Joseph stated that he would continue to work on the online portfolio and would ensure it would be up to date by the end of March. Additionally, Max suggested the team starts the second part of the bonus assignment over spring break.

Lab 7 Schedule & Team Meeting Notes

Note: Lab 6 and Lab 7 fell on the same day. Thus the team meeting notes were the same.

The team met together around 10 AM on Tuesday, February 21. The main discussion was related to which AEV design should be used from the various individual designs thought up in the previous lab. In the end, the group concluded that the bottle design was the first design it would test.
In addition, the group talked about current work related to the AEV. The roles for the next progress report were assigned, and there was discussion about the bonus video and online portfolio. Group member Travis suggested the team work together on the bonus video the weekend before the first part is due. In addition, the team leader, Joseph Dandrea, mentioned that he had written several blogs for the portfolio in Wordpad and would transfer them to the group website within the next couple weeks.

Lab 5 Schedule & Team Meeting Notes

Note: Since Lab 4 and Lab 5 happened on the same day, the schedule and team meeting notes are the same.

The team met briefly before class on January 31st, around 5:00 PM, to discuss how to proceed with the AEV project. First, the team leader, Joseph Dandrea, declared that the team will meet together on Tuesdays between 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM to complete weekly progress reports. The team tried this the previous week, and the report was easily finished within the two hour time frame. Dandrea also stated that he would personally work on the online portfolio and ensure it was finished by the end of the AEV project. This decision was made because the team leader enjoys writing blogs. Finally, Travis Lee brought up the necessity to work on the video project. The team decided it will try to meet together during one February weekend to do the first part, but the specific weekend has not yet been agreed upon.

Lab 3 Schedule & Team Meeting Notes

The team met at the Union during Taste of OSU. This location was chosen to ensure team bonding. The group discussed its current bottle model for the AEV. The team agreed that it was a very cost efficient design, but the team also felt that more testing needed to be done on the design. The bottle did not move along the track well, but the team believes it can make powerful improvements if given another opportunity. If the design still proves to be inefficient, the team will change to a design made by team member Max.
In terms of tasks, the team will work together over the weekend to finish the first part of the bonus video. In addition, the team leader, Joseph Dandrea, will conduct a two hour group meeting next Tuesday to discuss AEV improvement ideas. Joseph also stated he will transfer posts from Wordpad to the online portfolio over the weekend. He had issues editing the website during the week and may need to call the related office to get his account fixed.
