Lab 5 – AEV Design Screening/Scoring

The main objectives of lab 5 were be to develop team decision making techniques and to program an AEV to perform a specific task in class. The team assembled an AEV design from the design concepts each member created during a previous lab. The AEV design used in lab 5  was a working model to be improved on during labs later on. The team was tasked with writing a program to satisfy a specified scenario and test it statically on the desktop stand. After the static test, the AEV program was run on the classroom track. This familiarized the team with the programming commands and how the program affects the AEV behavior. The next objective was for the team to develop a success criteria to evaluate each team members’ AEV design. Qualities of the team’s ideal vehicle were weighted for importance, and each design was scored based on performance in those categories and the weight associated with them. The scoring assisted the team decide which AEV design to build off of.
