Meeting Minutes and Team Schedule

Date: 1/12/18

Time: 2:20pm-3:40pm (Lab)

Location: Hitchcock Hall Rm 224

Attendees: Jaclyn Boscarello, Caleb Goddard, Derek Goodman, Zanna Leciejewski

Topics to be Discussed/Objective:
Today’s main goal was to get a broad overview of the AEV project and figure out
communication techniques between the team. Other items to be discussed consisted of
brainstorming components of the project that needed to be tested, designed, and modified.

Decisions:
The team decided that the parts of the AEV kit that need to be tested are the Arduino, the
electric motors, the Servo motor, the count sensors and count sensor connectors, the
propellors, and the magnet system. Next, the group decided that it was best to create a
functional, well-balanced vehicle first which will then be optimized by decreasing its travel
time, making it more lightweight, more easily maneuverable, and making the design less
costly.

To do/Action items:
Everyone: Update u.osu.edu website – add all members of Bevis Devise Inc. and Instructors and TA’s

Reflections:
At the next meeting we will assign the action items before we depart from the class room or
the meeting area to inform everyone of their tasks. By doing this, we will meet all deadlines
on time.

Date: 1/19/18

Time: 2:20pm-3:40pm (Lab)

Location: Hitchcock Hall Rm 224

Attendees: Jaclyn Boscarello, Caleb Goddard, Derek Goodman, Zanna Leciejewski

Topics to be Discussed/Objective:

Today, we had to learn how to test and use the reflectance sensors as well as how to program the Arduino board. We also built the basic model of the AEV, from which we can redesign or edit based on the tests in the following labs.

To do/Action items:

We will each come up with an individual sketch of a possible AEV model, and then compare the sketches in our group during lab next Friday. We will then determine what factors are of importance to us and how we can implement those into the model.

Reflections:

After the lab, the team felt very successful in terms of progress and working efficiently as a group. We communicated well and talked through most of the steps to make sure that everyone understood what was going on. Next lab, we will try to link all of our computer screens so that we do not huddle around one computer while trying to program the AEV.

Date: 1/26/18

Time: 2:20pm-3:40pm (Lab)

Location: Hitchcock Hall Rm 224

Attendees: Jaclyn Boscarello, Caleb Goddard, Derek Goodman, Zanna Leciejewski

Topics to be Discussed/Objective:

Today, we used the Data Analysis Tool to accurately record and document data taken during a run for our AEV.

To do/Action items:

We will each come up with an individual sketch of a possible AEV model, and then compare the sketches in our group during lab next Friday. We will then determine what factors are of importance to us and how we can implement those into the model. We will be comparing our sketches to the sample AEV and determine which two will the be the most successful and then try to build our AEV from these observations.

Reflections:

Our team has really found a good way to cooperate and break up group work to become more efficient during our limited lab time. However, we have to be sure that we share our results and discoveries with the people not working on our particular section, so that everyone is able to successfully complete every part of the lab on their own.

_____________________________________________________________

Time: 2:20pm-3:40pm (Lab)

Location: Hitchcock Hall Rm 224

Attendees: Jaclyn Boscarello, Caleb Goddard, Derek Goodman, Zanna Leciejewski

Topics to be Discussed/Objective:

Our team discussed our individual concept sketches and then rated them using concept screening and concept scoring guidelines. From there, we found that two sketches, Derek’s and Jacyln’s, had the best overall features that we desired. We decided to combine these two AEV concept models, along with features that we thought of after looking at the parts, to make our final model.

To do/Action items:

Our team needs to finish our Progress Report for Part 1, and draw the orthographic view of our newest model. We also need to determine, with our company, what specific Advanced R&D project each group will do.

Reflections:

Overall, we were again very productive with our time during this lab period. We will need to continue to improve our teamwork so that as we move into a more specialized study, we can accomplish what needs to be done.
