The purpose of this first chip design is to investigate the effects of different channel shapes and check valves in the performance of the chip. There are two different channel shapes tested: serpentine and straight. There are also two check valves designed for each different channels: two circular check valves and fishbone check valves. In other words, there are a straight channel with fishbone check valve, a straight channel with circular check valves, a serpentine channel with circular check valves and a serpentine channel with fishbone check valve, as shown below.
