The purpose of this first chip design is to investigate the effects of different channel shapes and check valves in the performance of the chip. This design is similar to the preliminary design because that design was approved by the instructional team as it fulfills all the constraints and requirements.

After several tests, it was observed that different channels shapes did not affect the fluid flow to the detection well. The rectangular check valves were much stronger than the circular check valve that it was hard for the fluid to flow to the detection well.
