Final Prototype and Validation

This device will overcome the challenges of helping those that cannot carry objects up the stairs. The design will make sure that the poles connecting the handrail will not interfere with the movement of the device. The handle holds up to 15 pounds.

Validation:

As a prototype, the device was capable of pulling a considerable amount of weight without running into longevity issues or breaking.  Weight was added to one of the wheels to even out the center of mass for increased balance.  Even with added weight, the “rope” that pulled the prototype did not break.  The prototype endured the length of testing while remaining intact, without signs of wear.  There were no holes, bends, or dents in the material.  An actual product made out of desired material would most likely last even longer.  The product is large enough to pull a considerable amount of weight while also being small enough to not look out of place in a home.

Some people may feel that the minimally sized device is still to unappealing for their home and would want something smaller, while others may not mind how it looks and would rather it be larger to pull more weight.  If the product went to market, customization would be a great selling point for individual wants and needs.  The final product would also be made of better material and designed using more state-of-the-art means that would allow for a better fit on handrails and overall better functionality.
