The following image depicts what our metro system would look like. Electricity flows from the top of the train which makes transportation safer for passengers. People that may accidentally fall into the tracks will not suffer from any electric surge while trying to get back on the platform, as they could in a standard system where the electricity is in the tracks. The train is also designed to be energy efficient with it’s aerodynamic build.
In order to test this system, the following prototype was created. To test our system, we chose to utilize the straight track to measure the rates with multiple stops at a variety of speeds, times, and distances. We wanted to find the safest possible design to minimize energy and electricity consumption while maintaining an acceptable weight for the constant start and stop.
The underground track would be placed in the areas shown below.
