Mission Statement

Opportunity:

Ohio State University is one of the largest college campuses in America; with this size comes a great deal of traffic going through campus, including students and pedestrians who have trash that they need to throw away. Unfortunately, a lot of the trashcans become full and overflow. Modern technology presents us with some interesting opportunities on how to solve this problem and make the campus cleaner and healthier for everyone.

Task:

Our team is on a mission to find a solution to solve the problem of overflown trashcans on large campuses like OSU. The end goal of this undertaking is to create a cleaner and healthier campus for student life and visitors alike.

Pains:

  1. People cannot throw their garbage in an overflown trashcan.
  2. The spilled garbage may have an unattractive scent.
  3. There may be liquid garbage around the overflown trashcans.
  4. The overflown trashcan may cause people to negatively judge the campus.
  5. The overflown trashcans require more time and energy to clean up.

Gains:

  1. Students will always have a place to throw away their trash.
  2. The overflow trashcans need to be cleaned up less frequency.
  3. Fewer employees are needed to clean the trashcans.
  4. Less litter will be produced when people have easier access to a usable trashcan.
