Full System Description (ITS)

The goal of the system is to make the transfer of perishable foods, or any time sensitive item, from a transport vehicle to a destination location as smooth as possible.

Data will be collected from multiple sources in real time and sent to a server.

The data consists of:

  • Departure Time
  • Manifest List
  • Optimal Storage Temperature
  • Current Temperature (of the inventory)
  • GPS Location (of the inventory)
  • Traffic Conditions

As the data streams in, the system (the program) will calculate the ETA of the delivery; and it can calculate other things like suggested equipment for unloading.  The information will be displayed on monitors throughout the facility, and on mobile devices that are connected to the system.

Once the delivery arrives, an alert will activate at the door where the vehicle is.  This will aid in prompt service for the driver, and smaller delay in transferring the perishable inventory.  The system has an automated scanner which will come to the correct door and scan the inventory tags so the workers can handle any human interaction that is required with the driver.

After excellent service has been rendered, the system will automatically update with new expected arrivals for that location.

GPS will be used in order to facilitate the the needs of each item or the package of shipment needed for delivery. This will prevent spoilage as environment will be closely monitored as well as delivery times will secured.

Not only will GPS be used, but all information can be accessed via mobile devices. As temperature environment needs to be closely monitored it will be suggested that the delivery person have total access to this to make sure everything is done accordingly.
