Propeller Configurations

Analysis & Results for Propeller Configurations Test:

Figure 1: Power Vs. Time for Four Different Types of Propeller Configurations

Figure 2: Power Vs. Distance for Four Different Types of Propeller Configurations

From the above graphs for four different types of propeller configurations, with changes in the direction of propellers (45-degree up and down), and changes in shapes (corresponding to the color black and grey). Test 1 to 4 are in order and are listed in the graphs. From Figure 1, it is obvious that the energy is about the same with respect to time for all four conditions. However, Figure 2 shows that the grey propellers traveled longer distance than the black ones regardless of the degree of the propellers, and the 45-degree up propellers traveled longer distance than the 45-degree down propellers. Therefore, the the 45-degree up grey propellers (the control propeller configuration) traveled the longest among all four above conditions.

Figure 3: Power Vs. Time for the Control (45-Degree Up Grey) and the Flat Propellers

Figure 4: Power Vs. Distance for the Control (45-Degree Up Grey) and the Flat Propellers

Similarly, Figure 3 and Figure 4 demonstrate the comparison among the control propellers (45-degree up grey propeller), the flat grey propellers, and the flat black grey propellers. From Figure 3, it is obvious that the energy is about the same with respect to time for all three types of propellers. Again, Figure 4 shows that the control propellers traveled longer distance than either type of flat propellers, indicating that the 45-degree up grey propeller configuration (the control) is the best propeller configuration for team AEV.
