Key Areas

The two most important key areas are simplicity and efficiency. The idea of simplicity refers to keeping the design of the AEV as least complicated as possible, thus reducing the capital cost of the AEV making it more affordable to produce. The efficiency of the AEV is also key in the design. The AEV is very light and utilizes coasting to make the AEV more effecient.

The figure shows that the AEV is very simple and affordable as it has a low capital cost of $171,460(with $25,000 spent on a motor not used). The true capital cost to reproduce another AEV of this design would only be $146,460 which is one of the lowest capital costs.

 

The figure above shows the efficiency of the AEV. The AEV on average in the final performance test was 176.8 joules. This number was also one of the lowest among other AEVs. with an efficient AEV, it makes it cost effective to be able to travel the people of Lindon across the city of Columbus.
