Lab 02: External Sensors & Systems Analysis 1

A simple AEV was built and was supposed to be tested on the track in the classroom. Reflectance sensors were attached to measure the distance the vehicle moved and ensure that they were working properly. However, the group did not complete this test due to time constraints. The group could not get the battery to supply enough power for the sensors and Arduino to function, even after switching it out with another.

Another part of the lab was to test the propellers in a wind tunnel and analyze the data received from it. The power produced by the propellers in different situations with different configurations was measured. The data collected showed that the 2510 propeller would be more effective for the AEV in its mission because it would use the inputted power more efficiently than the 3030 propeller.

TEAM MEETING NOTES:

Date: 28-Jan-17

Time: 2:00pm

Members Present: Aaron Mckinley, Adam Boes, Christian Considine and Spencer Lohmeier

Topics Discussed: Follow-up to Lab 2 and Items to be covered in the coming week

____________________________________________________________________________

Objective:

Today’s meeting had 3 main items to focus on. Item one is to complete the progress report for the upcoming weeks lab. Item two is to complete the team status. Three is to update our project portfolio.

____________________________________________________________________________

To do/Action Items:

         Team Status (AB)

         Progress Report (AM, CC, SL)

         Excel Calculations (CC)

         Meeting Notes (SL)

____________________________________________________________________________

Status Summary:

Our AEV is nearly 100% constructed at this time. The only items that need to be fixed are the minor adjustments that we will be needing to make with further testing. Our project portfolio is up to date with all data and updates that were made to the AEV.

Reflection:

Too much time was spent on building the AEV.

The progress report from the previous week was not fully completed because the technical communication guide was not sufficient in providing all the information that we needed to complete the progress report

In the coming week, we need to double check information to make sure that all assignments are completed in their entirety.

Come prepared to class with information for the week’s lab
