Lab 4 – System and Design Analysis

Intro

This week in lab the group compiled performance data of the AEV to be analyzed then used to improve future designs for a more efficient AEV. A code was set up to have the AEV run a basic course around the track. From this test run data was recorded on the EEPROM Arduino that was then downloaded onto the computer to be converted to measurable parameters.  The data  was analysed manually through programming and graphing via MATLAB while the other used a pre-loaded MATLAB User Interface that performed downloading, calculations and graphing automatically. The purpose of these graphs were to break down the runs into phases and connect them in real time with the command codes used. The analysis of the graphs leads to determining what programming format/AEV combination has the most effective use of energy.

Takeaways

  1. Familiarization with the EEPROM Arduino data analysis tool, to be used in future testing for efficiency.
  2.  An average watt usage 5-6 Watts was set as a benchmark for future testing.
  3. At start power supplied is gradual before becoming constant when running all 4 motors (refer to link below for more detail)
