This week’s lab focused on the individual concepts of each team member created in the previous weeks. Each was scrutinized with specific criteria the team deemed important qualities for our final AEV design. A Concept Screening and a Concept Scoring Matrix was implemented to decipher the pros and cons of each concept and scaled the scoring based on importance. Using this technique the team was able to determine practical design techniques lead to the plans to implement a brake.
Takeaways
1) Design modifications should be monitored and compared with each iteration to ensure improvements
2) Individuals’ ideas can be combined to help the whole team create something greater. This can be done using a concept scoring or screening matrix.
3) 3D printing may prove to be a challenge for our parts that are rather large and flat.
