Meeting Minutes

-1/10/19 (5:30-6:50)

Location: Hitchcock hall

Members: Jakob Martinez, Haochen xing, Jesse Bendure

Topics:

Today we discussed the beginning of our project and discussed how we planned to program our engine to run. We learned to use Arduino and created our own code that would set a process for how the engine would run.

We exchanged contact information and set a standard communication hierarchy.  GroupMe is the primary means of communication followed by email.  This was a mutual realization.  GroupMe was chosen because it has naturally quicker response time.

Tasks to be completed:

Next week we will need to get the engine properly running based off of the code we created so that we can start designing the code for the vehicles journey along the track. For the website we will need to add our personal information so we can properly represent our company.

Decision making:

We all came together as a group and decided the best way to do our decision making would  be as a group and run our ideas through one another. This way nobody is left out of any process and everyone can give their own take on every step of the project.

-1/17/19 (5:30-6:50)

Location: Hitchcock Hall

Members: Haochen Xing, Jesse Bendure, Jakob Martinez

Topics:

Today we created our sample AEV using the given design. We were given a box of supplies that we used to create the AEV. Once constructed we uploaded our Arduino code to the Arduino itself and then ran the code on a sample track. We sadly experienced difficulties with our Arduino as it did not want to save the code and also had a hard time trying to redownload our code. Due to this issue we were cut short of our work.

Tasks to be completed:

We still need to download the saved data from our Arduino after doing the sample test on the track. Also for next lab we will have to graph our data using the matlab application. Then each of us will individually create our own concept sketches that we will use to compare with one another to try and create a team design for the AEV.

 Location: Hitchcock Hall

Members: Haochen Xing, Jesse Bendure, Jakob Martinez

Topics:

In today’s lab we finished up what we could not finish in last lab due to our Arduino malfunctions. We placed the AEV on the sample track and recorded new data that we then extracted from the Arduino and put the data into a table. Doing so we were able to have a proper data analysis.  Once we were caught up with the lab we then went on to brainstorming for our concept sketch. We took into consideration each of our concept drawings and came to a group decision on the exact details on the what designs we would use for different parts of the AEV. We then calculated costs and created a chart that would help for what would be the best decisions when picking what designs to base our teams concept drawings off of.

Tasks to be completed:

Things that we still need to do are to start planning our Grant Proposal for the presentation. Also using the teams concept drawing that we came up with to make an orthographic view in Solid Works of what our AEV will look like and what the AEV part modification will be.

-02/07/19 (5:30-6:50)

 Location: Hitchcock Hall

Today we put into motion the final design that we will submit for our Grant Proposal. We also used this time to discuss how we will present our concept and what its benefits are.

Tasks to be completed:

We still have to complete and wrap up our Grant Proposal pitch that we will be presenting to the class. Also we must create the full Solid Works part for our visual that is due next lab class.

Topics:

The team will be testing Propeller Configuration and Motor Configuration. Applications such as MATLAB and Excel will be used to collect data after testing the AEV on the track .

Tasks to be completed:

Start testing the AEV on the track and collecting the data with the Arduino. Create a proper methodology that can be used as a guide to the experiment process of the team’s tests.

-02/28/19 (5:30-6:50)

 Location: Hitchcock Hall

Members: Haochen Xing, Jesse Bendure, Jakob Martinez

Topics:

Continue testing the Propeller Configuration and Motor Configuration. Record the data using MATLAB and Excel.

Tasks to be Completed:

Insert all the collected data into the final methodology. Compare the data and decide which tests are more efficient and desired for the design of the AEV.

-03/04/19 (5:20-6:15)

 Location: Hitchcock Hall

Members: Haochen Xing, Jesse Bendure, Jakob Martinez

Topics:

Complete committee meeting reflection and use advice given from meetings to guide further experiments. Discuss the results from the tests and decide in unison which configurations should be used for the AEV and how they can be applied.

Tasks to be completed:

Prepare for performance test 1 and start testing to create a code that should be used for the test.  Start preparing the upcoming Progress report, website update and oral presentation.

-03/06/19 (5:20-6:15)

 Location: Hitchcock Hall

Members: Haochen Xing, Jesse Bendure, Jakob Martinez

Topics:

Continued to update the website for the company with the newly created data and insert any other evaluations made during the experiment.

Tasks to be completed:

Create a code that will be used to run the upcoming performance test. Ensure the AEV is properly configured so that it can transport the caboose and run smoothly on the track. Continue to work on the website update, oral presentation and progress report.

-03/07/19 (5:30-6:50)

 Location: Hitchcock Hall

Members: Haochen Xing, Jesse Bendure, Jakob Martinez

Topics:

Started testing on the provided AEV track assigned to the team. Used trial and error to determine the code that will be used for the performance test 1.

Tasks to be completed:

The website update, progress report and oral presentation still need to be completed. Finish testing the AEV on the track to figure out the code that will be used for the performance test.

-03/18/19 (5:20-6:15)

 Location: Hitchcock Hall
